Eggplant is a variable fruit that can go from spherical to ovoid and oblong. The color is purple and more or less intense, white with purple, yellow, orange or even black bands. The firm and soft flesh is always white and contains numerous edible seeds of the same color. Its meat is consumed as a vegetable, fried or battered in slices.
It is grown in tropical or subtropical climates. If it lacks water it will be very bitter, small in size and with wrinkled skin. It is a summer plant and is usually irrigated in Mediterranean climates.
