Here is a black and white photo I've entitled, "I'm not a bagel". The bread pictured here are actually called simits. A simit is a circular hooped shape bread that is usually encrusted in white sesame seeds. It looks like a bagel but it has a crispness to the crust and the inside is a little chewy but very soft at the same time. There are different versions from different Mediterranean and Middle Eastern countries. The Turkish version is featured here and it has been made into a sandwich with cream cheese and a black olive tapenade with a cup of tea on the side. I had this lovely meal at an airy cafe in Toronto called Simit & Chai which is a great place to enjoy a Turkish pastry or a coffee.
This is my entry for black & white photo contest. This week the theme is food which I find pretty hard to capture in B&W. I chose this photo because I liked the lighting and the textures of the simit. What do you think?
You can also see my other two entries here and here.
The camera I used was an Olympus EPM1
