Today's Harvest from our backyard garden ...
Tomatoes (couple of varieties), Cucumbers (two varieties), purple peppers, giant beans, yellow summer squash and a couple of really small carrots in that pile.
And Basil.... so much basil this year, its great! I'll be freezing pesto to freshen up winter meals.
We have an abundance of tomatoes so we shared with our co-workers. They were very grateful as there is nothing quite as delicious as a JERSEY tomato, even better that I grow them organically.
We also received our weekly Co-Op box from Honey Brook Organic Farms. I talked about the CSA in a previous post at Unboxing the Co-Op, check it out if you want to learn more.
Here's what was delivered in today's harvest from our CSA!
A watermelon - it didn't fit in the box but, we managed to bring it on home anyway.
Variegated Summer Squash
Shallots
Tomatoes (cat faced & all)
Potatoes: they are dirty when they are picked...the ones in the grocery store are pre-washed!
Parsley & Garlic (and a couple of green bell peppers off to the side)
Yellow Onions
I had lots of veggies to make an amazing salad to serve with tonight's dinner of potstickers & brown rice.
I dressed the salad with balsamic vinegar and olive oil...simple but yummy.
