As rain falls from the clouds above, a brainstorm floods the mind given one good thought. And such is art, the provocation to respond in kind with your own self-expression. Be it mememaker or rumpshaker, self-expressions are valid. Albeit I cannot make some memes make sense at all.
Kerry James Marshall, an American artist painted a portrait, Untitled, 2008, as he describes, a response to cultural critic Langston Hughes’ 1926 essay, “The Negro Artist and the Racial Mountain”. The opportunity to visit a museum and see the piece led down the Red Line and up the hill of personal knowledge. The life of a wandering warrior, as he reflects upon thru teaching his art, inspires even business acumen in the West. Certainly, fighting for his life and finding purpose was for his sake, yet here, today, his story grips the mind of someone in their own battle. I didn’t imagine much philosophy research coming out of manga, yet the digital vagabond finds his way stealing glimpses at gems on the way.
I have a task to discuss whether or not Algorand has this good project. Working on it...
Goblin Slayer, an adventurer whose only purpose is the eradication of goblins, appears unwell at first glance. Yet, his tale reads as one of a tragic hero, shaped by events into one who no longer wishes to play fate’s game. The story grave in tone, I resonate with the depth of its characters’ development. I too find myself desirous for change to avoid a repeat of the past. In this aim, I poke around databases in need of donations for more on the schools of thought. My library card needs a renewal before I can review Musashi’s teachings on the Way too.
I find Goblin Slayer to be pyrrhic in his victories, or at least his nature, despite the pragmatism. What’s a pyrrhonist? Names come up, more books, more self-expression for the aim to be ‘invincible under the sun’, Musashi’s language for attainment.
Haruhiro of Grimgar and Ash, I feel his portrait the most. A new environment, unfamiliar faces and the struggle for survival in his face, everyone replies to him about his sleepy eyes. Yet, every so often, those eyes see it. Insight, inspirations, in-something becomes a faint line. Visible to no one, other than himself, its guidance confirms completion. The difficulty was, following with flowing intention, purposely but without push or pull. Even if you see how it’s done, visualization isn’t execution. It’s the first step.
Portraits of these people, in their own worlds, carry out their lives, living dreams- they were worth taking. Why? Maybe for achieving epoché – the suspension of judgement – with the goal of eudaimonia, happiness, literally ‘good spirit’. Good spirits grew within minds full from good books, I think.
“A sound soul dwells within a sound mind and sound body."

- Characters in stories felt like me. If they could struggle, fail and improve and eventually succeed, couldn’t I do it too?
