It's finally happened. A chill has invaded the Autumn air. My Iphone says we are still reaching into the 20's ... that's Celsius.
Twenty is indeed unseasonably warm. I mean tanning is theoretically possible. But when I get outside, there is a rather brisk wind coming in from the Bay. It feels a lot colder and sweaters are a must. The other day, I was pining for gloves and my digits were taking shelter in my sleeves.
I don't know; maybe my Iphone is lying. Or the official thermometer is in a sunbeam (Yes, I know this is how a conspiracy starts and I am definitely not ready to explore that one) But let's be honest, it wouldn't be out of character for the media/corporations/governments to lie/omit the truth when it suits their purpose.
We now know the public (of the world) was misled into believing that by partaking in the V's, they would prevent transmission of C-19. Nope. They never tested for that ... I mean they knew they didn't because they recorded cases ... but they can claim they never specifically tested for an ability to stop transmission.
So about those mandates and all that scapegoating ... lost jobs, friendships, and constitutional and charter rights?

Beware the Wind & Librarians Promising Freedom
The book lost its leaves
When the wind broke its spine
The librarian cried be free
The libertarian said shush
Whereas our poor little book
Was left permanently dumb
Lying in its own detritus
And then there is this.

Resurrect the Watership
inhabiting the fringe
in search of a way out of the system
it's all red and blue pills
saccharine and syrupy
go on a trip
choose either rabbit hole
two entrances to the same warren
the Watership went down
long ago, your enemies transformed
with the help of Davy Jones
now haunt and oppress your soul
your foes are at one with you
wherever you go
and this new landscape is dry
withered and decaying
take a deep breathe
of its arid air
feel the thin winds
sharp and lashing
cut through the scarred granite
of ancient burns
apply the brackish balm
greasy layers of new soot
preserve the rock face
with blackened bones
and acerbic polymer
scream … I wasn’t given directions for this
the human residue
that remains
finally understands
neither the red nor the blue
resurrects the Watership
Well that is enough dark rabbit holes for me today.
Let's be honest. An Alice archetype, I am not. I like to take my trips and evolution slow. Meditation and slow reveals may be all I can handle.
Or maybe I have become soft. Now anything below room temperature is just too much for me. It has been decades since I have had to brave a prairie wind chill and just don't know cold anymore.
Maybe I should join the cold dippers and plunge into a tub full of ice everyday. Maybe not. I struggle to get out of bed without first putting my socks back on. I think sometimes if it weren't for the promise of coffee, I wouldn't.
I suppose I could just sleep with the window closed.
But but ... I like fresh air.
We are just past Canadian Thanksgiving. I endeavoured to make an almost carnivore pumpkin pie. See below my finished product. Honestly, it was pretty good and I am not actually a fan of pumpkin pie.
I used a Japanese pumpkin, which brought down the carb count, sweetened with stevia, and thickened with gelatine. For the crust I double baked chaffles. Then of course there was whip cream.
I may fine tune the recipe and post it in November for those of you south of the border and over the hill.
Winter is coming; get some warm socks and yummy pie:)
