We are always in Italy, this is another very evocative place that at certain times of the day like sunset becomes an enchanted place.
Here we are in Populonia in the province of Livorno (Italy), this is its Rocca with its central tower wonderful place definitely to visit both for the Rocca itself and for the surrounding landscape all around it.
The fortress dates back to the 19300s, then abandoned for centuries, then reborn at the end of the 400s. It is a mix of medieval and modern square-shaped construction with the only a tower in the centre.
All around the rock the landscape is dreamy, vast and spectacular, on the one hand, the Tyrrhenian Sea on the other the countryside and the Acropolis of Populonia.
Above the tower is a giant mushroom-shaped compass indicating the cardinal points.
But the thing that struck me the most is the sense of peace of this place and the panorama that really leaves open-mouthed, silent, the only thing left to do and look at it and fill your eyes and soul with beauty. Unfortunately, when I went there, some parts were closed to the public for renovation and many queues I could not see them.
If you happen to be in the area I highly recommend visiting this Rocca and even the small town, enclosed within walls seems to enter another time, in fact, it seems to go back in time with small shops, clothing, and friendliness of other times.
If you are lucky enough to go to this place with a beautiful and clear day I advise you to wait for the sunset, it makes this place a fairy tale where getting lost in dreams becomes of a gigantic simplicity.
Have a good trip friends!
