Yesterday was my prep day. I needed to get a bunch of chores done before today as I won't be wanting to do much the next couple of days. I got a tote of bird feed on order which will be in next week which is why I got some feed at the store the other day to hold over till the tote. Around noon it started to snow lightly and it continued for a few hours which ended up dropping only about half an inch.
I had stuff prepped in the kitchen for making tortillas but had to wait until after I picked the boys up from school as I didn't want to stop midway through. This time I used 2 cups of millet flour instead of quinoa flour. The millet has 3 grams of protein in each 1/4 cup, only a gram less than the quinoa. I divided the dough into 16 pieces and got to pressing and rolling.
I am only able to do one at a time when I roll them out larger but it is okay as they go pretty quick when thinner.
I am finding that the extra 1/4 to 1/3 cup water gives the dough the right moisture level and not too dry. Also I am keeping the dough covered in the bowl until I am ready to press each one which keeps it from drying out as well.
Nice stack in the container should last a couple days at least, hopefully I will be feeling up to making more when we run low.
I made sure to get firewood brought in and stacked high so I am not having to do it with a throbbing head and coming down from the anesthesia.
had to work a bit late so we got to Master's Brewhouse in Deer Park for my Mom's birthday dinner. We did it a couple days early since I won't be able to eat much then. It was a bit busy and we had to wait for a table but it is always worth it for their food is really good. I kept it light with a chicken salad since I have my surgery this morning and they don't want me full of food while under.
I have no clue how long it will take but I am slotted for an hour of anesthesia and might be back home before noon if I am lucky. 5 teeth coming out today so the left side of my face is going to be rather messed up for a while.
