Hello Foodies!
This is my first time posting on this board, so please cut me some slack.
I am undoubtedly a foodie.
My day revolves around food, this is not an exaggeration.
As soon as I finish a meal I'm already thinking about what I'm having on the next meal!
Even though I love to eat I completely lack cooking skills, I wish I was one of those amazing cooks but every time I cook something I end up feeling as if I ran two marathons.
However, there's part of my everyday meal that I love and that is WINE!
Hopefully, this will be a good addition to all of your amazing recipes!
I grew up in a family where wine, champagne, gins, and whisky were always present.
My childhood and teenage years were lived in the north of Portugal, more specifically in Porto.
With so many vineyards in the Douro area and many Port wines, the love for it is bound to happen.
I don't know a single tourist that has been to Porto and hasn't visited at least one Wine Cellar.
For instance, I already visited all of them (at least twice), I could easily give the tour myself.

So I thought, why not share with you some of my favorite wines?
For the first time, I'm presenting you with a Red "Tapada das Lebres Premium" from 2020, so a very young wine.
This one comes from the Alentejo region, which is not my usual choice since I tend to find them rather sweet.
Nonetheless, this one is close to perfect for me.
Portuguese wines are usually produced with more than one grape variety and achieve great flavors.
This wine mixes the following types:
- "Syrah";
- "Aragonez";
- "Alicante Bouschet";
- "Cabernet Sauvignon";
When it comes to aging, wines can go through one barrel or two, depending on what type of product you want to collect.
Barrels can be made with French or American oak and each one will give you a new outcome.
I might explain this a little better some next time.
Here the wine is aged both in French and American oak barrels.
Allowing it to have a more intense and complex flavor!
Appreciation:
- To the eye: has a dark garnet color and comes off as dense;
- On the mouth: has a very velvety and smooth sensation;
- On the nose flourishes hints of spices, nuts, and some subtle leather;
It's a strong wine with 14%vol./alc which makes it a great match for meats, cheeses, and pasta.
Any wine fans around here?
Cheers!
