BLENDING LIFE WITH HIVE || MEZCLANDO LA VIDA CON LA COLMENA [ESP/ENG]

Poder atender varias actividades requiere una buena dosis de disciplina, constancia y planificación. El tiempo de todos es limitado, sin embargo hay personas que tienen la habilidad de administrarlo sabiamente, casi que llegan a multiplicarlo, y logran sacarle el máximo provecho. Muchos de los que están en HIVE pertenecen a ese grupo de personas, ellos tienen sus actividades normales y sin embargo, encuentran el tiempo para publicar, comentar e interactuar en todas las actividades de Discord. Realmente son admirables.

Being able to attend to various activities requires a good dose of discipline, perseverance and planning. Everyone's time is limited, but there are people who have the ability to manage it wisely, almost to the point of multiplying it, and get the most out of it. Many of those who are in HIVE belong to that group of people, they have their normal activities and yet find the time to publish, comment and interact in all Discord activities. They are truly admirable.

My friend, Hive account@starstrings01, started an initiative where he invites comments on how we combine time in our daily activities with HIVE activity. Leí ambas publicaciones y me quedé sorprendido de cómo ellos, que son personas tan ocupadas — él es ingeniero de ascensores y ella madre de una beba muy pequeña— pueden multiplicar el tiempo para estar en HIVE. Mis felicitaciones a los dos.

I read both publications and was amazed at how they, who are such busy people - he is an elevator engineer and she is the mother of a very small baby - can multiply the time to be in HIVE. My congratulations to both of them.

Mi situación es mucho más sencilla que la de los compañeros mencionados, estoy jubilado, no estoy a cargo de niños pequeños y vivo solo con mi esposa, por lo que puede disponer de bastante tiempo libre. Esto no quiere decir que sea un vago. Mantengo una actividad de revisión de trabajos académicos que realizo en forma freelance, ahorita en formato online por las condiciones impuestas por el covid-19, en condiciones normales puede ser presencial. Esa actividad no genera un flujo de trabajo constante, hay veces que se mueve con cierta intensidad y otras en que es lenta. Pero no me resta tanto tiempo como para no participar en HIVE.

My situation is much simpler than that of the above mentioned colleagues, I am retired, I am not in charge of small children and I live alone with my wife, so she can have plenty of free time. This does not mean that I am lazy. I maintain an activity of reviewing academic work that I do on a freelance basis, now in an online format due to the conditions imposed by covid-19, under normal conditions it can be done in person. This activity does not generate a constant workflow, there are times when it moves with a certain intensity and others when it is slow. But I do not have so much time left to not participate in HIVE.

Sin embargo, hay situaciones que no puedo controlar y que limitan mi actividad en HIVE. Vivo en una zona con una peculiaridad geográfica que dificulta la telefonía celular eso, sumado al problema crónico del internet en Venezuela, hace muy difícil la conexión. Mi internet es intermitente, lento y exasperante, a veces cargar una página es una tortura. En muchas oportunidades voy donde un sobrino a lanzar los posts. Usualmente preparo las publicaciones con antelación, esperando el momento oportuno en que las condiciones permitan subirlas.

However, there are situations that I cannot control and that limit my activity in HIVE. I live in an area with a geographic peculiarity that makes cellular telephony difficult. This, added to the chronic problem of the internet in Venezuela, makes connection very difficult. My internet is intermittent, slow and exasperating, sometimes loading a page is torture. In many opportunities I go to a nephew's house to launch the posts. I usually prepare the posts in advance, waiting for the right moment when the conditions allow them to be uploaded.

Cuando no estaba en HIVE realmente no me sentía tan afectado por esta peculiaridad de las conexiones en mi zona, ahora si echo de menos una buena conexión. Para mí es un castigo estar condicionado de este modo, no me conecto cuando quiero sino cuando las condiciones me dejan, pero como decimos por aquí: “es lo que hay”.

When I wasn't at HIVE I wasn't really affected by this peculiarity of connections in my area, now I do miss a good connection. For me it is a punishment to be conditioned in this way, I do not connect when I want but when the conditions allow me, but as we say around here: "it is what there is".

Pero he aprendido a convivir con esos problemas, me planifico lo mejor que puedo. Ando cazando los momentos en que la conexión es estable y procuro sacarle el máximo provecho, en ese tiempo voto las publicaciones, comento y dejo algún saludo en los canales de Discord.

But I've learned to live with those problems, I plan as best I can. I hunt for the moments when the connection is stable and I try to get the most out of it in that time, I vote for the publications, I comment and leave some greetings on the Discord channels.
