Hola, vi la iniciativa 28 de Activate dedicada al signo zodiacal de Aries, asunto que me motivo a participar, yo soy de ese signo, perteneciente al elemento fuego, las personas dicen que somos de carácter fuerte, pasionales y que destruimos todo cuando nos enfadamos, no les quitaré la razón, pero sí les diré que somos leales, que en los momentos difíciles sacamos la fuerza para avanzar y que si hay alguien en dificultad nuestra naturaleza nos hace ponernos al frente para salvar a esa persona...

Me dio curiosidad porque el Carnero es símbolo de aries, esto se debe al mito griego de Jason y los argonautas, en la que Frixo y Hele fueron rescatados por un carnero y este fue sacrificada en honor al dios Ares, Zeus en agradecimiento coloca el carnero en el cielo, formando parte de la constelación de Ares ( Wikipedia ).

En cuanto a la elaboración del arte, pensé hacer una pieza de joyería, pero pensé mejor en hacer una ilustración digital del rostro de un carnero, fui y empecé a hacerlo en Photoshop, pero no me sentí cómodo, así que me decante por empezar la ilustración en Inkscape, que es un programa de ilustración vectorial, que me da más opciones de editar las partes, los trazos, dándome mayor versatilidad para ilustrar.

Sobre la imagen de referencia la saqué de Pexels a lo que me decanté por lo que muestro abajo:

Pasos

A pesar de que la imagen que escogí de base o referencia tenía varios carneros, yo seleccione desde el navegador el que estaba echado al lado izquierdo, este recorte lo pase a Inkscape y luego le baje la opacidad al 50%, agarre la plumilla, para empezar a trazar las líneas e ir definiendo el carnero como una ilustración, luche un poco para escoger el espesor de la línea, pero logre un espesor que me gusto.

Ya contento con el delineado, pase a crear una capa que puse por debajo para darle color a las distintas áreas del carnero, después genere otra para ir aplicando otros colores y así darle más detalle, me ayude viendo la imagen de referencia a un lado.

Ya en esta etapa deshabilite la referencia para a ponerme un poco creativo, confiando en mi instinto, cambiando los colores de las líneas, espesor, organizando también un poco más el arte, le di un brillo rojo a los ojos, la combinación de colores amarillos y marrones del carnero me convenció.

Para terminar el arte, pase la imagen del carnero a Photopshop para darle el acabado en cuanto a sombras y algunos efectos de luces, para darle un toque más interesante y colocarle la palabra Aries, este fue todo mi proceso, igual a continuación les dejo una secuencia rápida de la evolución del carnero:

Hi, I saw Activate's initiative 28 dedicated to the zodiac sign of Aries, which motivated me to participate. I am of that sign, belonging to the fire element. I was curious because the Ram is a symbol of Aries. This is due to the Greek myth of Jason and the Argonauts, in which Phrixus and Helle were rescued by a ram, and the ram was sacrificed in honor of the god. Ares, Zeus, in gratitude, places the ram in the sky, forming part of the Ares constellation ( Wikipedia ).

As for the artwork, I thought about making a piece of jewelry, but I thought it better to do a digital illustration of a ram's face. I went and started doing it in Photoshop, but I didn't feel comfortable, so I decided to start the illustration in Inkscape, which is a vector illustration program that gives me more options to edit the parts and strokes, giving me greater versatility when illustrating.

Steps

A Although the image I chose as a base or reference had several rams, I selected the one lying on the left side from the browser. I transferred this cutout to Inkscape, then lowered the opacity to 50%. I grabbed the pen to begin tracing the lines and defining the ram as an illustration. I struggled a bit with choosing the line thickness, but I achieved a thickness I liked.

Now that I was happy with the outline, I created a layer underneath to color the different areas of the ram. Then I created another layer to apply other colors and give it more detail. I helped myself by looking at the reference image on the side.

At this stage, I disabled the reference to get a little creative, trusting my instincts, changing the line colors and thickness, and also organizing the art a bit more. I gave the eyes a red glow. The combination of the ram's yellow and brown colors convinced me.

To finish the art, I transferred the ram image to Photoshop to finish it off with shadows and some lighting effects, to give it a more interesting touch and add the word Aries. This was my entire process. Here's a quick sequence of the ram's evolution:
