In the past, this type of wild eggplants was had growing near the rivers sides and lakes sides and forests., in the past these are a type of wild eggplants that sprouted spontaneously in the forest.
And today it is maintained as a crops. It was common in the past but nowadays this vegetable is hard to find. And these can be said to be a bit more expensive vegetables in Sri Lanka.
Actually,This vegetable is a small type of brinjals that belongs to the genus brinjals.It is also known as Wild Eggplant and Turkey Berry. Known as wild eggplant in English and thitbatu in Sinhala, this type of brinjal is a good nutrition type of brinjal suitable for vegetarians. Because the qualities that can be obtained from meat food can be obtained from this wild eggplant.
So today I am going to tell you how to make the most delicious wild eggplant mellum easily. I took this type of brinjals from those grown in my home garden. So first I will show some details about this type of brinjals. After that i will show you how to make eggplant malluma at home.
For various uses in cooking and various in ayurvedic treatment for used This type of wild eggplant , also used , can be seen in countries like Sri Lanka and India.This plant grows to a height of six to seven feet.
And It can be grown well in any climate.The whole tree has thorns. Also the leaves have thorns.
White and purple flowers bloom, and this type of brinjal consists of two varieties. It is identified by the color of the flowers. wild eggplant fruit here is used for cooking. And the roots, flowers, leaves and nuts of this tree are all used for various things .wild eggplant fruits are formed in clusters.

As a curry, As a tempering ,As an mallum,It can be made and eaten in any way. So I am going to tell you how to make wild eggplant Mallum.
The ingredients needed for it
.wild eggplant 100g
.Half a large onion
.3 green chilies
.1 scotch bonnet ( for those who like to eat spicy, add this type of chilli)
.Curry leaves
.1 teaspoon of salt powder
.1 teaspoon of mustard
.Half a teaspoon of turmeric powder
.50g of grated coconut
.Thin coconut milk 300ml

wash the wild eggplant and cut it two pieces .

Put the cut wild eggplant in the pan and add chopped onions, grenchilies, scotch bonnet chilie, curry powder, turmeric and salt powder to it.

Now add thin coconut milk to it. (You can also add water instead of coconut milk.)

Now keep the mixture on the stove and cover it. Boil for about 10 minutes in low flame.

After about 10 minutes, well boiled wild eggplant will look like this.

Now add grated coconut to it and mix well. (Mix well for about 15 seconds and remove from heat.)

Heat a separate pan and add about 2 tablespoons of coconut oil to it. When the oil is hot, add mustard. After it heats up well, add it to the cooked eggplant pot and mix it.
The wild eggplant mellum recipe is ready . You can eat it with rice. It is suitable for any meal time, morning, noon and night. It is a suitable food for vegetarians. and other persons also can eat this. this food you can get the nutrition you need from meat, fish food.It is good if you can have it for food at least twice a month. In some countries where you live,if there having this type of wild eggplant , you can be made and eaten in this way.
