The most recent AMA was an eye-opener in terms of the numbers. Khal was able to relate some of the numbers and where things stand.
As of the latest count, we saw an increase from 500 MAU to about 750. That shows the impact of the new UI making LeoThreads a viable option on the Hive blockchain. While the feature-set is rather limited at the moment, we are certainly moving towards the point of realizing "Twitter on the Blockchain".
To do this, we are going to need to see a great deal more activity.
Over the last 4-5 days, we are in the range of 2,200-2,500 threads per day. A threads is essentially a comment, from the blockchain perspective. We need to keep this in mind in that all is treated equally on LeoThreads, at least from a counting perspective.
That means 50K threads per day is top line threads and comments (votes are not counted in these stats).
Basically we are looking at an average of 3 threads per day for each user. This is our starting point.
Growing Threads
There are a number of inititiaves designed to incentivize people taking action.
Two that deserve highlighting are:
- community delegation
- GOSH
With communities, there are Leo Power delegations, starting at 25K, that are being given to communitiees to reward their user who thread. This is incentive to attract communities to the platform while also distributing LEO to more wallets.
The second project, is an extension of POSH. Called GOSH, it operates in a similar manner. Sharing Hive-based content on LeoTreads allows one to earn GOSH tokens. It offers another way to submit content, creating more Threads.
One of the keys it to get the numbers up. Ultimately, we have to attract more users. However, for this to happen, there has to be something for new ones to sink their teeth into. Granted, lacking a few key features is going to deter some in the near-term. Nevertheless, we can overcome this with massive action.
Some Ideas For Threading
This was actually sent out on a number of threads but it makes sense in a long-form post.
How can we increase our number of threads. Here are some ways:
- Veews as a direct feed to LeoThreads, post content from there.
- Copy links from Hive-based apps and share (especially from other content creators)
- Post some questions using the #questions tag (at least until polls are added)
- Post links from crypto-media and use the #cryptonews tag
- Use threads like Instagram posting your favorite pics
- Do a #threadcast for any live show/game
- Create #threadstorms, similar to a twitter-storm
- "Converse" by responding to comments made on your threads
- Post quotes from famous people
- Take Splinterlands, Rising Star, or other games and post the results from them
- Memes
- Use LeoThreads for announcements of anything taking place
- Put up the last price of your favorite cryptocurrency or stock
This is how growth on this platform should look.
Notice how there was a huge jump with the implementation of the new UI. We were able to push about the 2,500 threads/day level. Now we need to 20x that.
For the week, we hit 15K. This was also a significant jump.
In the medium term, it is estimated that the infrastructure can handle roughly 7,500 threads per day. This means we can triple the volume without much issue. After that, some backend updates are required.
They key is the activity that occurs can actually compound. As more top line threads are posted, that gives others the opportunity to comment. Threadcasts can really add up. This is something that Khal and the team will do with the CTT guys on Saturday.
During the AMA, there were 3 or 4 of us in an AMA threadcast and we were able to do 60 threads. Of course, that is dwarfed by what was done in Discord. The point is the content is being created just many Lions are sitting in there or on Twitter. They are not posting it on-chain.
With the update of the UI and LeoThreads, there is now another option.
If there are 750 monthly users, perhaps that 500 show up each day. An average per person increased to 10, we will be looking at the 5,000 level. That is the first layer we need to attain.
Once we hit that, then we can move towards greater exponential growth. This is how we get moving towards the 50K threads per day.
Take as many suggestions from the above list as you can. This is how we can keep the process moving forward.
