There are many ways to play 
You can play to be a collector and get the most unique cards possible. You can play to make the most starbits possible. Or you can play in order to fund purchasing music NFTs in the game.
But this post is all about the leader board. Now - you absolutely don't need to care about the leader board one tiny bit. There is a small prize pool for the very top spots but it's insignificant in the scheme of things and in my view the leader board is UTTERLY POINTLESS and should just be removed...

Why the leader board is The Real Rising Star Game
- It's a social game! The leader board gives you the perfect reason to chat to people, either on chain or in the RS Discord! You can start with pointing out all the people you have just jumped ahead of!
- The leader board is an excellent indicator of dating suitability. See point 4 in my previous post: @tdctunes/rising-star-its-just-a-game-or-is-it
- It's a complex strategy game. Many ways to win!
- It's the PVP (player versus player) mode of the game.
- The game is secretly storing your ranking average over time in a special database and when it's AI becomes fully sentient and destroys humanity it will spare the top 100.
- If you like being smug. Get it right here!
- Your mental health will be 1% better for every single position you climb!
- Need the perfect chat up line? "Hey there. I'm in the top 100 on RS. What's your ranking?"
How to climb the leader board
- Buy unique cards over at https://rsgfam.com/ (thanks
!)
- Bulk buy fans and skill at the same site - BUT also consider doing it mostly when the cheapest fans and skill are also cheap common cards because then you will be increasing your card count a lot more.
- Buy multiple TDC Tunes and TDC Tunes modular rack cards (Important!)
- Perform the special RS Dance (We will probably need another post about this one!)
- Buy multiple TDC Tunes Record NFTs in the game (Extremely important!)
- Go all out and ignore the rest of the game, buying the absolute cheapest cards possible whether they are useful to you or not. https://nftm.art/ is good for this. Select starbits as your currency and then set a price filter, for example anything under 300 starbits. Buy the lot.
Important Leader board terms
- Leap frogging - Jumping over one person by one place!
- The 100 Club - if you are in the top 100 you are on page 1. This is where the serious competition is.
- The Vacation Plummet - you've been away and let your average weekly minutes drop right down. It's going to take a full week to recover. At the time of writing I have fallen out of the top 100 for exactly this reason!
- The Leader Board Bluff - Tell people you don't care about the leader board and aren't doing missions like crazy and buying up loads of cards so they don't do the same. But actually those things are exactly what you are doing!
- To the moon - Who cares about the price of the latest crypto coin. We are talking about climbing quickly up the RS rankings!
- HODLR - Staying in the same place for ages,
- Leader board whore - Someone that ignores all other aspects of the game for the sake of the leader board.
- RS Anxiety - the time when first thing each morning you click on the rankings link and are desperately waiting for it to load so you can see if you've dropped or risen since yesterday.
