Last Thursday when I was on my way home from a counseling session, I made two stops (the second one I will share in another post- it was a GOLD MINE I found) but today I want to share with you all one of the stops. It was to a local fruit and vegetable market where I was able to get some packages (16-ounces each) of white button mushrooms; already pre-sliced, for .59/cents a package.
Now knew I only needed one package for cooking that evening, but at that price? I had to get more. So I scooped up five more packages and knew I would be dehydrating them.
I will definitely be using some of these dehydrated mushrooms for my cream of something mix when I want some added favor that mushrooms bring to a dish.
To dehydrate the mushrooms, I followed the instructions from the trail recipes' website.

What's nice is these were already pre-cut to a about 1/4'-inch thckness; so it really saved me a lot of time. I wiped the mushrooms off with a damp towel as I don't wash my mushrooms before use. They will absorb the water and it will take longer for them to dehydrate.
I checked the fungi about three hours into the process (both pictures) and they had a long way to go.
