I am not a chef, so I am very reluctant to send an entry. But when I saw that this week is all about rice, then in the Philippines, where rice is a staple, it doesn't take a chef to be able to do so.
So, I'll give this cooking contest a try! 😜
I thought of preparing a unique entry, since this is my first (no violent reactions please 😬). I'll be making fried blue rice.
First, I need to cook blue rice. In order to make it, I need to steep ternatea in a boiling hot water to get the blue extract. Then the blue water will be used to cook the rice grain.
Actually, the cooked blue rice is already presentable enough! And it is actually bluer than the fried rice (I don't know why).
However, since I feel that I haven't done anything, and haven't use my cooking prowess yet (as if I do...ðŸ¤ðŸ™„), then I have to make some fried rice.
In frying, I'll use whatever colorful vegetable I have in the fridge. I have:
- carrots
- corn
- green peas
- purple cabbage
- onion
- garlic
I think it's enough to make my fried rice colorful!
Steps:
- Sauté the minced garlic, then onion until savory.
- Add the cubed carrots, corn, green peas, and purple cabbage, and sauté.
- Then put the blue rice. Stir until its mixed and fried properly.
- Add salt and pepper to taste.
And, here's the final product!
Bon apetit! 😉
