Hello dear Steemians and Foodies around the Globe!
You must have heard about this dish Wiener Schnitzel ( pronounced Vener Schnitzel)... it is one of the loved and favorite foods in the Austrian Cuisine. Everyone has eaten this dish in local restaurants or at home. The original recipe calls for a slice veal, but since veal is more costly than the pork filet, most restaurants use pork filet or Chicken filet. Potato salad normally goes along with this as by-dish or you could also have grilled potato wedges or french fries together with green salad of your choice. Featured in this post is cucumber salad with sour cream and dill sauce. I also have cherry tomatoes and rucola.
It is very easy to prepare and im Nu you will be done in a short period of time. If I couldn´t think of what to cook, this is what I make because it is simply delish and quick to prepare. Below is the recipe.
Wiener Schnitzel
Ingredients:
2 Pork filet, thinly sliced about 4-5 millimeters
Flour
Bread crumbs
2 eggs beaten
3 tablespoon milk
2 tablespoon sparkling mineral water
coconut oil or sunflower cooking oil
salt and pepper
sliced lemon
Preparations
Prepare 3 containers ..each in the following order from left to right: one for flour, one for egg mixture and one for breadcrumbs. In the egg container, mix the sparkling mineral water with the egg as well as the milk....beat to have a blended mixture. The mineral water will make the breadcrumbs become crispy when fried because of the sparkling soda content.
Pound the meat slightly to flatten it, season with salt and pepper both sides. If you like, you can also season your schnitzel with garlic powder (optional). Then, coat the meat with the flour first, then dip the meat in the egg mixture...lastly, in the breadcrumbs. Do not press the meat, simply do the coating with the breadcrumbs and deep-fry each piece in a pan with preheated cooking oil with temperature of around 180°C. Avoid over heated oil because the breadcrumbs get dark easily. Deep-fry until both sides get that golden brown color.
Arrange on a plate with your chosen by-dish, top with lemon and serve hot with a green salad of your choice.
I hope you´ll try this recipe because it is really delish and quick to prepare.
Happy Cooking!
