Whenever I look at this picture, I just can't stop thinking how it all started, the beach balls, the games that never end even till sundown. It never occurred to me that I, Andre Blake will one day be the captain of my country's national team, a goalkeeper too, it never for once crossed my mind, and as posterity will have it, all whose legs are in this picture are part of Jamaican national team now, for we all are of the same age range.
Fabian McCarthy the one on a red short was born the same year with me then but older than me by some month, His dad is also a football fan so all the encouragement he needs are there for him, unlike me who was nurtured to become a doctor or an engineer.
Gradually I develop the talents and skills with the help of Adrian Mariappa who was very instrumental in my choice of choosing football as a proffesion, he was the first person to instill in the me the mentality of doing my country proud by flying the Jamaican colour on the field, the 'Reggae Boys' as we were called.
Adrian Mariappa made sure I rediscover myself into becoming a goalkeeper, from the Jamaican U-17, to U-20 and U-23. Finally, the national team and been capped. This picture speaks volume.
Lastly, my big brother, he has scored many goals for the Jamaican team and still keep on counting, his support for me at any time and my choice in selecting teams I'll end up playing for earned me a lifetime of peace.
He was the first to congratulate me when I was given the golden gloves in the Carribean Cup, memories of these Negril days are a till afresh.
