Hey guys! This is once again, and i'm here to give my review on a movie I think you should or must have watched. This time it's a movie from the 90's, So I believe no one would care about spoilers. This is also a Bruce Willis movie, who he still seems to be fresh from his 1995 movie Die Hard with a Vengeance and he still had his hair. Playing the character Korben Dallas.
Movie: The Fifth Element (1997)
Genre: Sci-Fi, Action
Director: Luc Besson
Cast: Bruce Willis, Gary Oldman and Milla Jovovic
Movie Plot: In 1914, two explorers uncovered an ancient weapon and a great evil that was suppose to be discovered till centuries later. Just when the two explorers uncovered the secret, and group of aliens came and took it away due to war. The aliens said to a priest (Who was with the two explorers at the time and knows about the aliens, the ancient weapon and The Great Evil) when The Great Evil returns (which is comes once every 5000 years) so will they along with Ancient weapon known as the Fifth Element (And the four Element stones along side. If you want to know what element do the stone's have, think of the four elements in Avatar). The Priest promised that he will pass down the knowledge and the key to the safe keep to future generations till their return.
After that, the story jumps forwards in time 300 years later. The Great Evil (Which is a giant black planet in flames) has come and mankind is render hopeless as it seems like attacking it head on with man made weapons only makes it bigger and stronger. The final hope for mankind rest in the hands of The Fifth Element (Long story short was an Alien life form until a group of savage aliens came, blasted their ship to kingdom come and was reborn as a human female thanks to a group of scientist) and a formal space fighter/New York cab driver Korben Dallas. It's up to these two (with the help of the priest and the Dj) to stop the Great Evil before it reaches earth and wipes out all life in the Universe....All in two days time. Yep there is of course a time limit lol.
I spent the last 2 hours and a minute of watching Leeloo quickly learning the standard human language and culture. Bruce Willis character running away from the police and saying to the viewers that are watching the movie that his wife left him for his lawyer, he wants the perfect girl in his life (Take a guess on how that is), and saying that he is not a space fighter anymore, he's a Cab driver. Chris Tucker being his usual self (Think of the Rush Hour Movies) with a metro sexual tone. One scene of Zorg doing some weapons dealing and chocking on a cherry seed. The final nine to ten minutes where Leeloo had a existential meltdown, Bruce Willis and his group of comical misfits figuring out how the Element Stones work. And Bruce Willis character confessing his love for Leeloo (There by unleashing the power to stop The Great Evil and her existential meltdown. So I'm guessing the whole moral of the whole movie is either "Love is the strongest weapon in the Universe." or "Fighting and Protecting the one you love."
This movie was (Again) Made in 1997 and it really did look like it was ahead of it's time. It was a real masterpiece. The only thing I don't really like about the movie is Bruce Willis trying too hard hard to deliver a funny comedy punch lines. I chuckled a little bit, but that's about it. I'm glad he'd stick to only holding guns and actions.
Ok! That's it for today. Let me know in the comment section if you are planning on watching the movie, or what your thought is if you have seen the movie already.
