I watched most of the first half of the England - Columbia match, but then I decided it was time for an evening run as it had cooled a little. I set off up the footpath across the road that takes me to the footbridge over the railway. Year ago there was no bridge and you had to walk across the tracks. It's a very straight line so you could see and hear a train coming. Then it was through an area known as the Mill Pits. There's the remains of an old water mill in the river. From there it's onto farm tracks that run around fields of various crops. It's all very open as you can see below. The farm is in the distance.
As I took this picture my phone must have glitched as my podcast player and the Endomondo app both stopped. Hence I have two tracks for this run. After the farm it was more farm tracks that take me to the meadow where there were some horses, then along the river and back to the footbridge. Nothing too fast apart from some very short sprints. I was trying to lean forward a little more most of the time.
You can see that most of my records were set a few years ago. I wonder if I can ever beat those. I still want to beat 25 minutes for 5km. I'm not sure the 1km record is real as the app may have had a GPS glitch. I doubt I've ever run that fast.
When I got home England were 1-0 up, but then Columbia scored in injury time. I'm not watching the extra time. I'm not that bothered about the result. As I keep saying, 'It's only a game'.
After the main part of the match I went outside to talk to my other half who couldn't bear to watch. There was this great streak of cloud across the sky. It reminded me of the Nexus from Star Trek: Generations.
