Save the Bees in Our Area Journey Part 2
Well our journey to save the bees in our area is taking us into the beginning of planting season. I have been checking the last frost dates, getting my list of flowers ready, and picking the perfect spot in the yard to plant my garden. I will be making a bee garden where I showed you in my last post, but I am also making my vegetable garden bigger. Read below to find out all the details :) Thank you for reading and please consider planting a bee garden or just a few flowers that bees love, every little bit helps :)
Planting season is almost here....YAY!!!! The stores have started getting planting soil and seedlings in. The store is starting to smell awesome with all the pretty flowers around. However, before I can go crazy buying all my garden babies, I have to prep my yard.
Yesterday, a dear family friend, a man I would walk through fire for. He is not a friend but family. We consider him our children's grandfather. He is going to come this week and till my garden for me. Eroded and I were going to build another 2 boxes but he said;"no way, I will come and till your yard and we can make your garden twice as big." Twice as big, I am all for that :)
Today, I am going to the store and start picking all my babies to bring home in a few weeks. I check the last frost date for our area and it is April 27th. I will plant about two to three weeks after that, just to make sure it has past and give the ground time to warm up. I am going to plant seedlings; but I am also going to try seeds.
I did not grow the seeds first in the house, I am going to try and grow them from just planting them outside. The only reason I am planting seedlings is just for back up, in case the seeds don't work. I cannot wait, I am so excited. I love gardening and I am hoping to be able to build my garden this year, to be able to garden all year.
I am hoping to have a small greenhouse built by the end of the summer. I have to see how the budget pans out but I am hoping with the wood leftover from the remodel we might be able to get it done.
I HATE WAITING!!! I want to get out there right now and get my flowers planted to be ready when the bees arrive and get them some good food. Winter is my favorite season and I like spring but I hate waiting for it to warm enough to plant. Come on May :)
Thank you for reading :) Please consider planting a bee garden or just some yummy flowers for them. It will not only help the bees but it will give you something beautiful to look at :) Please comment below I would love to hear from you :)
