Bigar (35 meters) - Water Cat
The Bigar waterfall is located on Stara planina, on the Bukovski brook, a few kilometers south of Kalna on the way to Pirot. This waterfall is about 35 meters high and at the same time it represents a mouth in the Stanjanska river. Because of the stone that is light and hollow, Bigar has got its name and is protected as a treasure of nature.
This rock, which is also called a waterstone, a sedge, a water cats, is a great material for fountains, but when they catch a stone, it will almost never make a fountain. It is interesting that water from the Bigar can be drunk. A few hundred meters upstream is the monastery of Saint Onuphri from the 13th century.
