I posted last month with a bike club shirt and I found another when clearing out my wardrobe. It is actually a sweatshirt, but that still counts for #ShirtOnSunday as long as founder approves.
When I was 24 I got my first motorbike. I came late to the attraction of biking. It was a Yamaha RXS100. For a UK learner it was an economical option. You could ride bikes up to 125cc, but they were limited to 12HP. I bought it new and had some issues with it. Something on the engine had to be replaced as it was lacking power and I did the running in process twice. It is not that obvious, but this picture was taken after someone ran into the back of my bike. This was about an hour after I passed my test and was going to work. The seat is bent and there was other damage. It took ages for the shop to get all the bits for the repair.
Whilst still a learner I found out about the Bedford Eagles club. They had a long history dating back to post-war racing, but by then it was a social group who hung out at pubs and went to rallies. I actually went to my first rally days after I first met the group. See photo in the other post. This picture was from a ride out to Knebworth house where there was an American civil war reenactment going on. We took over the playground, but did not cause real trouble. Note the bemused children.
I had a lot of fun with these guys. I went to rallies around the country and we did some marshalling at the big BMF show near Peterborough. I have a load of rally badges somewhere. The club did seem to fizzle out a bit and I am not sure if it is still active. I have lost touch with those people.
