As every year at this time, the students of the School of Voice of María José Bes meet to give a small free concert, organized by this teacher and the House of Culture of Bétera - Valencia, Spain.
Each student prepares a song of their choice to sing it later to the audience; in my case it was the Elvis song - Can't Help Falling In Love.
This type of events, in which we all meet and try to do our best trying to convey to the audience those feelings inherent in each song, unite us as a group.
That is why, regardless of whether some students sing much better or worse than others, we all ended up happy.
In the technical aspect and in my particular case, apart from being quite nervous and not getting a clean voice, the microphone was several tones above my range, since I had to sing behind an excellent soprano; When the sound technician started trying to adapt the microphone to my voice, it turned off and I was without microphone for a few moments; things to be live.
After the quick reaction of the sound coordinator, who gave me another microphone (configured with another volume and another tone very different from the previous one), I re-hooked myself to the song and tried to finish it as well as possible.
Without any shame and aware that I have a lot to improve, I leave you with the video of my Christmas performance.
Como todos los años por estas fechas, los alumnos/as de la Escuela de Voz de María José Bes se reúnen para dar un pequeño concierto gratuito, que organiza dicha profesora y la Casa de Cultura de Bétera.
Cada alumno/a se prepara una canción de su elección para cantarla posteriormente ante el público asistente; en mi caso se trató de la canción de Elvis - Can't Help Falling In Love.
Este tipo de eventos, en el que nos reunimos todos/as e intentamos dar lo mejor de nosotros/as intentando transmitir al público esos sentimientos inherentes a cada canción, nos unen como grupo.
Es por eso que, independientemente de que algunos alumnos/as canten mucho mejor o peor que otros, todos terminamos contentos.
En el aspecto técnico y en mi caso particular, aparte de estar bastante nervioso y no conseguir sacar una voz limpia, el micrófono estaba varios tonos por arriba de mi rango, ya que me tocó cantar detrás de una excelente soprano; cuando el técnico de sonido empezó a intentar adaptar el micrófono a mi voz, éste se apagó y me quedé sin micrófono durante unos instantes; cosas del directo.
Tras la rápida reacción del coordinador de sonido, que me proporcionó otro micrófono (configurado con otro volumen y otro tono muy distintos al anterior), me reenganché a la canción e intenté acabarla lo mejor posible.
Sin vergüenza alguna y consciente de que tengo muchísimo que mejorar, os dejo con el vídeo de mi actuación navideña.
