This is a sculpture in a small park called Burston Reserve near Parliament Station in Melbourne's CBD. I spotted it in the way to St. Patrick's Cathedral. The name of the sculpture is Great Petition. It was unveiled in 2008 to mark the 100th anniversary of women's right to vote in Victoria. About 30,000 signatures were gathered by women in 1891 to be presented to the Parliament of Victoria. The petition was 260 metres long! However, women were only given the right to vote in 1908.
