Travel Diaries: Plaza Italia, picturesque and historic - Argentina (2023)

Plaza Italia is an impressive architectural work located in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Palermo, Buenos Aires, in the center of the square stands a majestic monument dedicated to Giuseppe Garibaldi, a prominent Italian military and political figure known as the “Hero of the Two Worlds” for his contribution to the independence of Uruguay and his expeditions in South America and Europe.

The monument to Garibaldi is what stands out inside the square, mounted on his horse and elevated on a large pedestal; its design and structure are really admirable, and the environment is embellished with shrubs that bring freshness and vitality to the place; Plaza Italia is a busy space, which gives it a dynamic and lively atmosphere; being there I understood why it was our meeting point to give the tour.

Bitácoras de Viaje: Plaza italia, pintoresca e histórica - Argentina (2023)

La Plaza Italia es una obra arquitectónica impresionante ubicada en el barrio porteño de Palermo, Buenos Aires, en el centro de la plaza se erige un majestuoso monumento dedicado a Giuseppe Garibaldi, un destacado militar y político italiano conocido como el "Héroe de los Dos Mundos" por su contribución a la independencia del Uruguay y sus expediciones en América del Sur y Europa.

El monumento a Garibaldi es lo que destaca dentro de la plaza, montado sobre su caballo y elevado sobre un gran pedestal; su diseño y estructura son realmente admirables, y el entorno está embellecido con arbustos que aportan frescura y vitalidad al lugar; la Plaza Italia es un espacio muy transitado, lo que le da un ambiente dinámico y lleno de vida; al estar ahí comprendí porque fue nuestro punto de encuentro para dar el tour.

During our visit, we met our friends in this iconic place and we could not resist the temptation to take some pictures next to the monument, the square is perfect to spend a nice time, especially in the cool spring mornings, like the one we enjoyed in November.

Plaza Italia is not only a point of historical and cultural interest, but also an ideal place to rest and enjoy the energy of the city, from there there are different transportation points, our next stop was the Ecoparque, which is very close and promises to be another great experience.

If you have the opportunity to visit Buenos Aires, be sure to stop by Plaza Italia. Remember to stay hydrated and, if possible, bring a hat or cap, as the sun can be quite intense at this time of the year.

En nuestra visita, nos encontramos con nuestras amigas en este icónico lugar y no pudimos resistir la tentación de tomarnos algunas fotografías junto al monumento, la plaza es perfecta para pasar un rato agradable, especialmente en las frescas mañanas primaverales, como la que disfrutamos nosotros en noviembre.

Plaza Italia no solo es un punto de interés histórico y cultural, sino también un lugar ideal para descansar y disfrutar de la energía de la ciudad, desde allí hay diferentes puntos de transporte, nuestra siguiente parada fue el Ecoparque, que queda muy cerca y promete ser otra gran experiencia.

Si tienes la oportunidad de visitar Buenos Aires, no dejes de pasar por Plaza Italia. Recuerda hidratarte y, si es posible, llevar un sombrero o gorra, ya que el sol puede ser bastante intenso en esta época del año.
