What is a Blue Moon?
It's a full moon that happens twice in the same month, as human beings are mostly water, the moon has a direct effect on our own bodies like it does with the tide. If you are interested in health, cleansing and particularly fasting you might want to consider aligning these with the moon.
Four days prior to the full moon or new moon or directly on the new/full moon is the ideal time to start a fast or cleanse.
Fasting on these particular days can boost weight loss as cravings for unhealthy substances are said to peak around this time. Drinking plenty of water and a variety of nutritious juices will give the body the extra energy that it is craving. Spirituality fasting during this time can bring us closer to our divine feminine creative self.
So why fast?
Fasting is different to say a juice cleanse.... fasting is more extreme.....
Fasting allows our bodies to assimilate cosmic energy rather than biochemical energy. Fasting rests the entire body and frees up much energy for the body to heal itself. Proper fasting means consuming water only. Consuming fruit or fruit juice is not fasting in its most complete form.
Some practical points to keep in mind when fasting:
- Avoid eating heavily before and after the fast
- Excessive fasting may be dangerous, but for certain individuals long fasts may be necessary to cure certain diseases.
- The best way to break a fast is by taking water with the juice from a whole lemon and a teaspoon of Himalaya salt the following morning.
- Eat a ripe banana to lubricate the digestive tract and then eat a light breakfast with fruit
Why fast this full moon?
Well a Blue moon is particularly special because they are not as frequent the next one will be Oct 31st 2020
For Christians it might be a special way to end the lent season.
This blue moon marks the changing of the seasons if you live in the northern or southern hemispheres (this time our bodies are particularly vulnerable to sickness especially if your moving from Summer to Autumn, if your moving from Winter to Spring its also good to prepare the body for changing to a lighter diet)
Before Fasting
- Be intuitive - listen to your body and do what's best for it.
- Ease yourself into a fast with soft foods and juices
- Don't push yourself too far, especially if you have not done a fast before.
- Don't worry if you can't go all the way: Eating lighter or less solid foods and going for juices instead also prepare, protect and cleanse the body, as you get used to doing these more regularly, you can move into fasting.
