By now it is pretty well understood that all physical matter is not actually solid. All matter ranging from items such as rocks and dirt; to items that we use like tables and chairs, at their source are just a bunch of atoms full of energy moving extraordinarily fast. To the physical eye and to the touch, these items are perceived as solid. We can sit on these items, stand on these items, and even put these items together to form other items. However, at their base they have a vibration and are moving so fast they are perceived to us in the human experience as solid. It's kind of like a fan moving very fast on high speed, you can see it's moving, but you cannot see each of the blades. If this fan were to spin so fast it would essentially be a solid object; impervious to the touch. It would feel and look solid. However at the same time it would not completely occupy all of it's available space. This is the same principle as what makes up an atom. Atoms are mostly empty space, but vibrating so exponentially fast that when bound together the objects they form appear solid.
Matter consists of atoms held together by electromagnetic forces. How tightly the bond is held determines whether the matter is formed in a solid, liquid, gas, or a plasma. Weaker bonds are what constitute gasses and liquids; with stronger bonds forming solids such as rocks and minerals.
But how does this "really" happen? Science has been working on this since the days of Aristotle, Einstein, Newton, and even now through present day. We've learned a lot, but a more recent breakthrough may be what is the most astounding of all.
There is a test some people may have heard of known as "The Double Slit Test." Thomas Young first conducted this test back in 1801. He did so without lasers. However a recent and new modern experiment, of this older test, changed the ways scientist viewed their known understanding of how matter behaved.
For those unfamiliar with the test I'll give a brief explanation along with some pictured explanations.
A gun that fires electrons at a wall was set up with a divider between the gun and the wall. The distances were set up exactly the same for all the following tests. Within the divider wall were two slits. These slits were meant to allow the electrons fired at the wall to pass through them forming patterns on the corresponding wall behind the slits.
Now imagine shooting paint balls through these slits. Some would splatter and not make it through but the ones that did would make a corresponding pattern like this:
Now how light works is in a "wave pattern." The light makes it through the two slits and then splits into two new slits of light, each spreading out equal distance from the others. At some point, where a peak meets a trough, they will cancel out. This is called an "interference pattern" and is how light behaves. This is what that pattern would look like:
Now upon firing the electrons at the two slits this is what they found:
It was believed that the electrons would behave the same way as particles but in fact what they found was that electrons behaved the same way that light does or wave patterns:
Now for the REALLY ASTOUNDING part...
When they put up mechanisms to "observe" the electrons - - - they began behaving exactly how they thought they would originally. Upon being fired through the two slits, while being observed, they generated two vertical lines (just like particles would). When they pulled away the observation mechanism they went back to forming wave patterns (like light).
How can this be? How can electrons behave one way at one time and yet another way during a different time while being observed? Many now believe this is because of "Conscious Thought." The simple act of "paying attention" generated a different outcome. This is proof that conscious thought forms matter & energy.
Now this all is happening at the very smallest of quantum levels, but nonetheless it is happening. This proves that "thought" can effect energy. And if our thoughts are indeed energy then......we really ought to be more mindful.
Some are tying to disprove this shocking and astounding finding. One of the greatest argument against the test was that the scientists were not present the entire time during the "observation period" while the electrons were behaving as they should and forming two straight lines rather than an interference or wave pattern as they usually do. However a counter to this would simply be that while they weren't present; it does not mean their thoughts were not.
We've all heard the saying "I'll send you my best regards." How often to we think and send "good vibes" to people? We don't have to be near them to do this. Thoughts travel like energy waves and as we can now see and know - affect us and others. These affects may not happen immediately in the slowed down time span of the physical plane - but they do and will happen. Think of all the positive and negative thoughts that you put out from time to time. Would this not make you be even more careful? Would it not also make you want to have even more control and focus over your thoughts? Would it not also make you want to learn more about how you can truly manifest your thoughts into reality?
I'm an open minded individual so anyone that has a counter-intuitive view is certainly welcomed to share it. I welcome all thoughts and comments. I would however suggest that we all stay "mindful."
Here is a great article on the newest findings:
