The Furious Chicken
The Furious Chicken helped me win an uncountable number of battles. The following match was kind of funny as the Chicken was the last to stand, which gave me the win.
Nothing fancy overall, but I found it amusing enough to share it with you.
With its 0 mana cost, the Furious Chicken can almost always find a spot, especially in low mana battles. Even with the Fiends now offering extra options in terms of 0 mana cost monsters, the Chicken is still arguably the most reliable.
In fact, as a Rare Neutral card, the Furious Chicken can be used with any splinters and is not restricted by the Lost Legendaries or Rise Of The Commons rulesets as opposed to the Fiends.
Sure, you won't be able to rely on it in the Taking Sides ruleset, but this is only one out of 33 (actually, there is another ruleset where all O mana monsters are excluded: Even Stevens). I recall that in Bronze leagues, just having a Chicken could make a big difference because of the cookie-cutter lineups run by the bots.
Little fun speculation:
If Splinterlands succeeds someday on a very large scale (cf. Pokemon), I could see the Furious Chicken having a decent chance of becoming the next Charizard for nostalgic players willing to collect these cards. Of course, the premise of this speculation is a giant one. No financial advice obviously, and I don't even own one myself actually!
The battle
Ruleset: Melee Mayhem
Mana Cap: 12
League: Silver I
In those low mana situations, there is often a good chance to face the Death Splinter, which offers several Sneak monsters. That was the reason why I placed the Chicken behind Djinn Chwala and not at the front.
I wanted to give Chwala enough time to go through the opposite tank before getting hit by the eventual Sneak monsters. In the end, the extra armors of the Djinn helped it handle alone the entire opposition. But, without the Chicken though, this battle would have ended as a draw.
Thank you Furious Chicken!
