Mats Hummel, Germany defender will be missing his side’s World Cup clash against Sweden. This report which has been confirmed by the coach, Joachim Low gave the reason for his unavailability as a neck injury.
After Germany fell to a 1-0 defeat by Mexico in their opening Group F match, Hummels was one of the players who criticized the tactics employed by the coach.
However, Hummels later stated that the issue had been table out ahead of the Sweden match in Sochi after a few talks held in the Germany training camp.
However, he will be unavailable for the team’s 2nd match which will be crucial to the team’s success in the World cup competition.
Speaking in a news conference, Low reported the news stating that the player hurt his neck during training and is yet to improve.
To replace Hummels, Low will likely bring in Antonio Rudiger from reserve as they look to claim their first win of the competition and look towards advancing to the next stage.
