The parable of long spoons

A holy man once asked God to show him the real difference between heaven and hell.

So, God took the man to a large room where it appeared that people were sitting down and were trying to eat.

In the middle of the room there was a large table and a big pot of stew which smelled delicious.

However, the people around the pot were all thin and appeared sick and malnourished. They all had spoons with very long handles and they could reach the pot with these spoons, but because the handle was longer than their arms they could not return the spoon to their mouths in order to feed themselves.

That was hell - God said, bringing the holy man in front of another room.

The other room had the same exact setup. Same pot of stew and same delicious smell that had filled up the room and furthermore the same exact long spoons were being used.

But everyone here was well nourished and healthy and theye were all smiling and in good humor.

And that was Heaven - God told the holy man.

Confused, the holy man asked God what the difference was, and why people in Heaven looked healthier when all was the same.

The difference - is that in Heaven - THEY LEARNED TO FEED EACH OTHER - And they never went hungry ever since.

Steemit and the long spoon allegory

The above allegory was the first thing that came in mind when i learned about how steemit works. Steemit is like that pot of stew generating food for everyone and the upvotes are our way of spoonfeeding eachother.
