I would like to share a selection of the reasons people gave for why they are still steeming now (even as the price of steem dropped well below $1.00 over the week of the contest)

1. Hive account@oclinton. This steemian is here for the money - nothing wrong with that. Aside from that, they also like the Contests, Meeting new people from around the world, Fun, Ideas and knowledge. Their post

2. Hive account@rjoshicool. Joining because of a love of technology and photography, Rjoshicool has moved here from Quora and enjoys the rewards available here compared to elsewhere. The post

3. Hive account@improv made a combo post He has found communities and groups here to stimulate his mind, and feels a common bond amongst many steemians is that we all have some financial struggles in one way or another - linking us in a shared journey.

4. Hive account@frdem3dot0 is here for the freedom and lack of censorship. The post To quote: "An important consequence of steem being not owned by anyone is that steem cannot be censored or controlled and all profits remain in the community. It is a truly free medium. It brings the self-publishing opportunities of the internet to the next level."

5. Hive account@botefarm is here for friends, and relies on steem for income. His post Botefarm is looking forward to all the changes to come and being a part of the community and seeing the impacts of big changes such as HF20 and SMT's.

6. Hive account@reonlouw. His post can be summed up with a simple quote: "But I am having fun. I am learning. I am connecting. And the potential is there!"

7. Hive account@joanstewart In her post shared that the best thing about Steemit is the opportunity to learn everyday. Celebrating 26 moons (2 years) of steeming, and still learning everyday.

There are so many more entries and reasons to keep steeming spelled out in responses to the contest. These are just the first 7 responses I received. I would recomend a read of each post to learn a bit more about your fellow steemians.
