A lot of us Christians and humans in general these days don't know his to pray, sometimes the prayers are not answered. We believe prayer is simple and we do it the way we like, we pray where it suites us, when it suites us, how it suites us, etc. But we forget we are praying go our lord God, our creator, we have to pray properly when when praying to him and for our prayers to be answered. Our lord Jesus taught us how to pray in the holy bible and I would be sharing it and some reasons for unanswered prayers.
- Avoiding secrecy when praying and doing good deeds: these is a common reason in these modern day, when we give to the church, we want our name to be announced, we want to be recognised, we want to be known. Everything boils down to the crave for publicity.
Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
Mathew 6 vs 1-4
Secrecy goes a long way in out prayers and good deeds. As stated above, when we do it in public, our reward has been gotten already.
And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
Mathew 6 vs 5-6
- Words repetition: repeating words or phrases is one of the causes of unanswered prayers.
And when you pray, do not heap up phrases (multiply words, repeating the same ones over and over) as the Gentiles do, for they think they will be heard for their much speaking.
Mathew 6 vs 7
Repeating unnecessary words, are unnecessary, the Bible says before we open our mouth he already knows what we would Ask him.
- Unforgiven heart: the lord hates an unforgiven heart, how would you feel if you had two sons, one offended the other and the other refuses to forgive but comes up to you to ask for gifts and presents, you wouldn't be vary delighted to do them, that is, if you would do them at all.
For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins
Mathew 6 vs 14&15
This are but few ways as explained in the holy bible in which the lord ask us to do/not do or say/not say.
- Unfaithfulness: our lord God is a very jealous God and he dose not like to share. If we are to serve him, we should serve him fully. We should avoid serving two masters at the same time.
No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
Mathew 6 vs 24
THIS IS HOW JESUS TAUGHT US TO PRAY:
This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
Mathew 6: 9-13
Every thing on here was curled from the bible.
