What I have learned In My 1 Month and 7 Days on Steemit.
My experience on Steemit could have been so different if I only listened.. As you can see on my profile I joined Steemit on July 7, 2016, which is almost a year and a half ago. The problem is I joined but never started posting, I only started posting on 20 December 2017.
I was introduced to Steemit by , I didn't know him very well or long at the time, we only played a few League of Legends games together. The thing that stopped me from posting then was the same as with all the people I tell about Steemit now, it sounded to good to be true. The thought that you can make money just by posting, it wasn't for me. I have never been one for social media, I joined Facebook and Instagram but rarely posted, I was always the lurker reading and not even commenting.
After creating my account and just leaving it, I spoke to again on 20 December 2017 and he asked if we were still considering Steemit. He explained just how well he has been doing on it and told me to reconsider joining again. After talking for him a bit I decided to give it a go again, it was our builder's break and I had nothing better to do for about a month. It started out slow, I did my #introduceyourself post which failed horribly (I had no idea what I was doing). My first few posts after that didn't do to bad until I joined a discord server and had my one post submitted to OCD. That is where it all changed.
Why You Need To Find A Mentor/s support group.
If you really want to get somewhere on Steemit you have to post as often as possible and as decent quality content as possible, that is what Steemit is all about. I really started getting some traction and gaining followers when I joined a Discord group where I could work with mentors. Mentors will teach you the tricks of the trade and can give you advice when you need it, it can be difficult finding the right support group. The ideal will be to find a mentor or group with someone that can submit posts to OCD and Curie, that is were the Wales reside. I had posts with 20+ likes where the majority of the payout came from one vote, what you need in Steemit is quality upvotes, not more upvotes.
Branding And Building Your Own Empire
It is quite difficult to convince someone to join Steemit, who would have thought showing someone a way to make money would be hard. But if you do it right and assemble the right team then you can grow and learn together, most people will not forget their roots. Even if they surpass you then they will in most cases still read and upvote your posts. Out of the people that I have either directly or indirectly influenced to join Steemit three of them have been Curied and got higher paying posts than me.
Here is a quick shout out to all the people that I dragged to Steemit with me:
Some of them are not as active as the rest, each are still trying to find their feet and niche.
Lastly on branding, make yourself visible, be everywhere but not in an irritating way. This can be done by being active in the communities that you are in, be it the Discord servers, responding to the comments on your posts or commenting on someone else's post. A lot of the times you will find that if you were to leave a nice comment the person will upvote your comment and you can get some decent payouts from that. I have had days where my comment upvotes payed out more than my posts.
