In olden times many small states existed in the History of Northern Area of Pakistan. There was two state Hunza and Nager which were traditional rival states situated opposite side of the Hunza river. The rulers of theses two states were called Thamo/ Mirs, they built thousands of stronghold to shown their power.
The Hunza rulers was resided in the Altit Fort, but later on conflict between two sons of ruler was occured and his sons shaboos shfited in Baltit Fort making a capital of Hunza valley. During the power struggle between two brothers, younger brother was died and Baltit Fort established itself as the Prime power of Hunza valley.
Baltit Fort can be traced over 700 years ago. The structure of Baltit Fort was influenced by the Ladakhi/Tibetan architecture.
