Let the Charity Contest Begin!
The Rules
- Create a Fundraising Post on your blog and post a link to it in the comments below (thus officially entering the Charity Contest). All contestants have five days – June 19th to 23th to submit their Fundraising Posts in the comments below. Of course, all kinds of comments are welcome, not just the official submissions of Fundraising Posts.
(to make it easier for me to keep track of all the contestants, please tag your Fundraising Post with a charitycontest tag; it doesn’t have to be the first tag, however)
The Fundraising Post on your blog should present a charity for which you want to raise funds and to which you will eventually donate the funds raised. It can be an entire organisation, or a particular campaign it’s running at the moment, or a contribution to a fundraising goal it’s currently trying to reach. You have full creative freedom in how you may choose to present your favourite charity or cause. To name just a few, it could be a video, a cartoon, an informative text with pictures, a piece of infographics, a poem or a song you composed, a story you’ve written – well, anything that communicates the charity’s main purpose or the issue they are working on and calls your followers to action.
All submitted ideas will automatically enter competition for the Community Award. The winner will be decided by the greatest number of upvotes that the comment with a link to a Fundraising Post will get (please note that upvotes received by comments on that comment will not count). The winning comment will receive the entire SBD payout that this post earns.
Authors of the participating Fundraising Posts will try to solicit donations (in STEEM and SBD) and upvotes from members of the Steem Community as well as people outside of it. The more people upvote your post and donate to your cause, the more your charity will earn, when it’s time to donate to it (see the next point below). And the more people upvote your Fundraising Post and send you donations, the more chances you get to win one of the three Main Prizes.
Once you have received payout for your Fundraising Post (usually 7 days after having posted it on your blog) you are expected to make a donation to the charity you have been promoting in your post. Your donation doesn’t have to be the exact sum total of your Fundraising Post’s payout and all the donations you will have received. It’s actually better if your donation is greater than that sum, because it’s the amount of your donation that will determine one of the three winners, and not your Fundraising Post’s payout by itself.
Within the three days after receiving payout for your Fundraising Post you’ll have to submit proof of donation in the comment to your post and in the comment to your contest entry below. It can be a payment slip, a screenshot of your Internet bank transfer order, screenshot of a confirmation of donation from your charity, receipt of a tax-exemption on your donation (if you’re in the US) or any other proof of similar nature. The amount you donated should be clearly visible on the proof you submit.
Three days after the last entry’s payout three winners who have donated the most will be determined and announced on my blog. The first prize is 25 SBD, the second is 15 SBD, and the third is 10 SBD. The prizes are courtesy of
, who generously decided to fund this contest.
Questions, requests for clarification? Leave them in the comments and I’ll be happy to answer them to the best of my abilities.
Ready to go ahead and participate? You have five days (until Friday midnight, Pacific Standard Timezone aka California time) to create a Fundraising Post on your blog and submit your entry in the comments below (don’t forget to provide a link to your post and tag it with charitycontest).
I can’t wait to see all your brilliant ideas to mobilise Steemians to help make the world a better place!!
