Some time ago, I purchased some small white beans from a supermarket as I was going to use them in a recipe that I had seen in a magazine.
Every time that I thought of doing that recipe, I realized that the beans had to be soaked in water over night and so I never got around to doing it.
Anyway, if you have read some of my previous posts, you will know that I planted some heirloom beans a while back - put up a trellis as well and they are doing well.
However, at the same time, I remembered the beans that I had bought to cook with and so I decided to pop a few into my container away from the heirloom beans, and see if they would grow.
Today as I was watering my plants - surprise, surprise - beans are appearing!!
I have no idea what they will taste like as the packet just says "white beans" but I am sure they will be fine.
The ones shown in my photo are still small as I wanted to take a photo for this post and on the up side, if they give me a decent crop, I have still got a whole packet full to plant again.
