FINALLY, I know these photos are long due. So obviously after the ceremony we made our grand exit. There were bubbles and flower petals EVERYWHERE. (There is even a photo of me digging some out of my dress, probably won't post that one)
So while our guests were enjoying a selection of sherry, juice and canapes, we were busy taking photo's.
There were some romantic ones...
some artistic ones...
some fun ones...
And of course family ones...
After those it was time for everyone to enter the reception hall. We were asked to wait for the photographer to just get ready, she disappeared towards her car... then we waited and waited and waited... People who wanted photo's alone with us came and more group photo's were taken. After a while everyone went inside. Our MC came out to check why we weren't coming in (at this point is was no longer wearing shoes and the flowers where so heavy I was starting to feel like I had been working out at the gym.) My sister came outside too, offering to go get my flat shoes in her car and asking for us to please wait till she gets back. So we spot the photographer inside and agree to wait 5 more minutes for her to return. Finally she got back and it was time for our entrance and food (I was super hungry at this point)
Our starters came and it looked good but man did it taste amazing (Starter was Crepe Usambara- Baked pancake with a savory chicken filling, topped with fresh herbs and cream sauce)
Do you know how to know when people are enjoying their food??? Silence fills the room, occasional mmm's and positive comments were heard. Talking only continued after people had finished their starters. Then came the speeches, some of them were funny, some beautiful (my maid of honor quoted Dumbledore, of course it was beautiful) and some led me to tears. My husband's toast or speech to me made me laugh and cry. It went a little something like this (I'm paraphrasing): A few months into dating my beautiful wife here she had already decided that I was her husband and that I had no choice in the matter, but I'm a stubborn man so I made her wait a really long time. Standing here today and looking at her, I have no idea why I made her wait so long. She has made me the happiest man alive today... And more, at that point I was crying and not 100% listening to what he was saying (the aww's were real).
Next came the food, ahh yes, everyone was ready for the food. Since there were small kids and babies around I let the mommies go first but then it was our turn... And what was on the menu?
Side dishes
Savory rice, roast potatoes, broccoli & cauliflower au gratin, pumpkin fritters with caramel syrup topped with almonds, feta cheese and olives, exotic salad platter and bread basket.
Meat dishes
Lasagne, BBQ chicken, Malayan Lamb stew
People were trying a little of everything and were happily chowing away.
The rest of the night was filled with dancing , more eating (the cake was cut but ended up all over our faces)...
It was a good wedding, better than I could have dreamed of.
