Today while reading the newspaper (yes I am a millenial that also reads the newspaper) I saw a recommendation inside that said some great things about this place Tlaquepaque, and that it had the best Mexican food in town.
So I decided I would try it out!
Walking up, it doesn't seem like anything special. Just seems like any regular Mexican restaurant with the added bonus of having a name that is very hard to pronounce (Tlah-Kay-Pah-Kay)!
When you start walking up to the door, you can smell the fact that this place is no joke. It is legit authentic Mexican food designed, cooked and served by Mexican people. The aroma is incredible. It was also very nice and warm inside, most likely from all the cooking they were doing. When you get inside, you will notice that the menu is like 50 feet long and takes up pretty much the whole length of the building. I have never seen a menu this physically large!
After looking over the menu seemingly 20 times to make sure I was choosing the right item out of almost 50 items, I decided I would go with the Chicken Chimichanga. for those of you who don't know, a Chimichanga is a burrito that is fried so that it turns crispy on the outside (one of my favorite things)! It only took about 5-10 minutes for my food to come out and WOW was it amazing!
This is hands down the best Chimichanga I have ever had. And I have had it at a few handfuls of places, all of which were quite good. They also had some homemade salsas (the green on the left is mild and the red on the right is hot) which were also incredible and complimented the meal very nicely. I also really loved the rice and refried beans! Also came with a little amount of veggies on the side there. Only thing I could have asked for, would be more veggies. But it was a full plate so I got what I was expecting! Overall, I paid about $9 and loved every cent of it. The place was cleaner than expected and it was VERY quiet in there which was nice as well! I hate excessive background noise, it can ruin a meal for me. Everything about the meal was absolutely fantastic and I would recommend this place to anybody who likes Mexican food! If you zoom in on the menu you will also see they had some American dishes available for people who don't like Mexican food.
I will definitely be going again sometime in the future!
I hope you liked this review!
