Hubby and I both grew up in the western suburbs of Sydney. In all those years I for one can say I never ventured too far from my comfort zone and into the rougher surrounding areas.
Since then things have changed and the area has not only increased in value but it's also cleaned up a lot and has weirdly become a foodie hotspot ~ all coinciding with our move to the mountains.
In my teens I would never have stopped by Mt.Druitt. It was just one of those places I never felt safe in but recently with a new Filipino restaurant (Mate Burger) enticing me, we have gone out of our way to head down the mountain and to Mt.Druitt for food.
On one of our visits to Mate Burger I couldn't help but notice the traffic next door and stuck my head in to see what the fuss was about.
Tee-Lish Brownies
At first glance I thought really?? A shop just for brownies?
Despite my thoughts, I just couldn't ignore all the people, or that sweet sweet brownie waft in the air or the huge smiles in each person's face and the sparkle in their eyes as they floated out of the store.
That was a couple of weeks ago and ever since then I had them on my food wish list. Finally, last Friday my food genie, Hubby dearest, came home with the goods.
After careful consideration I sent him my list.
- Twix
- Nutella
- Banoffee
- Mars
- Double Choc
- Peanut Butter
- Mud Cake
- Snickers
- Malteaser
Learning my lesson from that time I was craving donuts, ordered heaps, got them and didn't like them ~ I wanted to have a somewhat conservative approach with the brownies thus settling for 9 flavours. I figured we can share them first to see if we even like them before ordering big, but Hubby, genius that he is, decided to double my order last minute.
#👇😱🤤🤤👇
So that was on Friday.
This was me Saturday morning 👇
Peanut Butter brownie for breakfast? Why not? It went perfectly with my cup of coffee.
Saturday night dessert.. 👇
The Snickers and Malteaser brownie went down fab with vanilla ice cream.
Me on Sunday 👇
This time with a Banoffee brownie. That was hella good too!
Considering we've had them since Friday I must say..
- They keep really really well!
- I'm amazed at our restraint. Especially mine!
These are seriously delicious brownies.
Best brownies that have ever crossed my tastebuds EVER. From the texture, the slightly crunchy outside to the melt in your mouth inside ~ special mention to the caramel center in the Snickers brownie ~ to the flavours. They were just the right amount of more~ish sweet without being too sweet.
Now I get the revolving door vibe I got off the place and the blissed out, glazed over expression of the people who walked out of there cos I'm so there with every bite.
So here's my current brownie situation. I've got Nutella, Mars and Mudcake left, I think.
The two on the side (Banoffee and Twix) are Hubby's. Though I'm thinking of claiming those on account of we really should have split the tray of 18 3 ways not two....
I've got stock but I'm running low and I'm on "Pace Yourself!!" mode cos so far (except for the German Chocolate brownie, Hubby's rogue order, that had coconut on top) I have enjoyed every single flavour, so much so that I don't have a favourite yet.
Yup. They're THAT good and sadly I don't know when I'll get my next hit of these crack brownies.
One thing's for sure. These are defo worth the trip down the mountain but next time I'm gonna give their brownie shakes a go.
Brownie Shakes? Yas. Its a thing! Check out their Instagram and drool with me 🤤.
