The city of Gaziantep is the birthplace of Baklava. We visited a highly recommended place by a friend and I hope from my review it will convince you to try as well!
Welcome to Baloğlu Baklava
Cute & Small
Most of the time people buy the baklava for takeaway. So this visit we (four in total) had the restaurant to ourselves and enjoyed a lovely quiet morning tea over some delicious sweet baklava.
So many to choose
It is difficult for us to choose because we can't understand how they are different. We just have to trust with our eyes and point to the ones we like. Usually we pick the ones the chef recommends.
Prices are per kilo, but we can't actually read what each items are!!!
Plating up always include a sprinkle of chopped pistachios
Bon Appetit
A very happy selfie
Price: 75₺ Liras/US $15 for the four of us
It's not very cheap compared to other snacks we've tried, but I think of it as the Turkish version of a macaroon. Also pistachios and walnuts are expensive ingredients for these baklavas
