I wasn't really into afternoon tea since a year ago, but I have this very kind invitation from colleague to go out for a drink, and I wasn't really ready to decline such good deed, so we headed out for a short tea break. As we arrived in Seksyen 17(section17 is a housing area in Petaling Jaya), I saw this cafe by the name of Kafe tujoh.
Initially, when I looked at the shop house layout(at one point where everywhere in Malaysia likes to build two storey shops, where half of the upper floor are for residential purpose, and downstairs for business purpose. This is one of them, I thought it's going to be lame. As soon as I looked at the menu, nope it's not what I thought. It's a full scale cafe restaurant with a decent wet kitchen. I looked at the pricing, it wasn't driving me away, meaning to say this is a place very suitable for a blind date. Reason being? Well, in my country(or probably most Asian countries) practice guys paid for the date. By the look at the right hand side of the menu, nope it doesn't hurt the guy's wallet much! Call us ego freak, but no pay for blind date, no more date.
This is rather unusual, where one of our order is a passion fruit drink that came with an oversized
metal straw. Metal is because recyclable (frankly...I think I'll pass on the straw thing from now on). Huge and oversized? I guess that makes you suck more and finishes the drink faster? Or? May be due to the fact that they do put in the passion fruit seeds in it.
Apologize the cake lost a corner. It was attacked before I remember to pick up my phone and take a quick shot. This is a caramel rich chocolate cake. Initially, I don't quite like the ultra soft and buttery texture of the middle section, but after my first bite, it changes all that perception. It has to be that soft and buttery to bring up the rich caramel flavor of it since the chocolate taste is rich.
Lemme introduce you their peppermint rich chocolate drink. I think I made a less wise decision on this one, since I haven't try the original version without mint, but it's all good. I will definitely come back for a glass of chocolate. The mint taste is supposed to blend in good with the chocolate to make it taste like mint chocolate, but since the cocoa taste is so strong on the chocolate drink, it actually covered the taste of mint in it.
This is not exactly a blind date, but a rather casual tea break or super late lunch so to speak, and don't wanna spoil appetite for dinner, so ended up for a grilled chicken sandwich. Portion are quote generous in my opinion, and in the end we didn't manage to finish the fries, and had to leave a piece of that bread behind.
You know, I'm very much into food and beverages. As usual, I totally forgotten to snap a photo of the main attraction, so I borrow this from a friendly blogger. Shop houses back in the 60s and 70s bound to have generous patio area with plants in the premises, so it's kinda green and feels really refreshing. I will not grab the photo here, but if you're interested to see more photo, I'd recommend you to visit choiyen's blog.
