Hello Steemians, Hello Hong Kong!!
Today I want to introduce you all about a hidden gem of Chinese foods restaurant. The location is pretty infamous to Hong Kong people in Shek Kip Mei. So....!!
This is the menu outside the restaurant, yea, it's a hidden gem for Hong Kong people so provided only Chinese meunu.
Through the the front door look inside, during lunch time on Saturday is really packed. Another habit or culture for us is sharing table with other people, it's a unique tradition for us but totally weird for other people around the world.
Menu in Chinese without image. It's about set lunch for every day in the week. Another funny habit for local restaurant.
Finally the foods ordered come over, today is Saturday so we picked set lunch (C) and set lunch (D). This is pork jowl marinated with XO sauce (salty and spicy) mix in fried rices. It tastes like normal fried rices but smell good with XO sauce.
This is fish fragrant eggplant with rice. Fish fragrant is one of the favor from the foods Sichuan, funny fact is nothing about fish but made with chili, spring onion, ginger, garlic, sugar, salt and soy sauce. Simply fried the eggplant and mix with the sauce and then put in with rice. The key of this one dish is how to soften the eggplant and make it absorbed the fish fragrant sauce. I believe the chef did that successfully.
The foods style of Ban Heung Lau is quite light so both dishes are not that flavorful, but that's positive comment.
To finish, both of us ordered the popular iced chocolate. Every time I feel it just common chocolate taste but don't know why I will encore this every time I come, LOL.
