One of the best places to get cheap and tasty Japanese Udon is at the NEX shopping mall. In this neighbourhood mall is Shokutsu Ten, a Japanese Food Street offering a wide selection of Japanese dishes and also featuring a market for grocery shopping.
IDATEN Udon allows you to mix and match the different types of Udon and paired with your favourite Oden or deep-fried sides. The Udon selection includes original Udon, matcha flavoured, Togarashi, Sakura, etc.
Our choice is always the original Udon and choosing a few sides like the huge Tempura, chicken karaage, fried vegetables, or fried squids.
The udon at IDATEN is chewy and spongy, small children absolutely loves it. The soupbase is light but tasty, add in some spring onions and a simple Udon is ready to be enjoyed.
The huge tempura is another specialty at IDATEN but it is a little pricey, at $5.50 each.
There are a total of 4 outlets of IDATEN across Singapore but this branch at NEX is a good choice as it is always less crowded and is in a neighbourhood shopping mall that is convenient for us.
