What does a farm have to do with desserts, you might ask. This establishment is a family owned and operated orchard, restaurant, shop, and garden center. Their bakery has some of the best desserts you can find anywhere. Since this business has been running for over 7 generations there is a lot of history here. The first apple trees were planted over 100 years ago!
When you first walk into the country store portion you are greeted by this old car on display that was actually used to haul produce in its day.
When you enter the store you immediately see the first display case of baked goods. My favorite is the creme horn, but since I am visiting today in the late afternoon, almost closing time, the creme horns are already sold out for the day. That bottom rack that is now empty, is usually filled with more pastries.
The next display case has their pies, of all kinds. My favorite there is the strawberry pineapple upsidedown pie. It's based on the pineapple upsidedown cake, with their own added twist of strawberries and made into a pie. They are famous in particular for their custard pie, which is what brought me here the first time I visited.
The next case contains their fresh baked cookies. You can buy them by the box already packaged by flavor, or you can mix and match from the case so that you get a variety. My favorite here is the iced oatmeal raisin cookies.
They also make their own fudge and I have tried samples, but I have never purchased any. I find fudge to be just too sweet!
Continuing on around the corner you will find their cakes, both whole cakes and individual slices, along with bread pudding (a real treat!!) and some of their dry mixes if you prefer to bake your own.
One of the items I purchased today was German Chocolate Brownies. At home, my wife and I are about to enjoy a piece. They are moist and delicious with the perfect German Chocolate topping with coconut.
I come here for many things, such as their homemade Peach Pecan salad dressing and Lingonberries Jam that they import from Sweden.
The restaurant has excellent food as well, I'll be doing a review on it the next time I come here.
If you're looking to satisfy your sweet tooth, this is the place to come, but don't forget your credit card because they are a little pricey. I believe it is worth it though!
