It seems like everything is expensive in Chicago, even burger places. But this one is about the same price as neighboring restaurants and they are known for their many different styles of burgers.
It has the feel of an old fashioned soda fountain, you order at the counter and there are tables for seating, although judging from the traffic that went through there while we were eating, they have a large take out business.
We opted to dine in though and a waitress soon delivered our drinks, then the food was out shortly thereafter.
The biggest challenge is deciding what burger (and there are other choices as well!) you want. The selection is displayed on large chalk boards on the walls and you make your selection while you are waiting in line to place your order at the counter.
They offer other choices besides burgers on the second chalkboard. I was told the pulled pork nachos are fantastic, but I haven't tried them yet. There are wraps and salads, chicken and hot dogs, wings, beef and different varieties of French Fries. For the especially brave there are Zombie Fries and Twisted Fries.
I ordered the BLT Burger, being drawn the to bacon, provolone cheese and avocodo. My companion ordered the Farm Yard, he's fond of the fried egg with his burger - and you can never go wrong with bacon. We split a small (yes this is a SMALL order - good thing the waitress warned us that a small would be plenty) of the Garlic Parmesan Fries.
Here's a better shot of the amount of bacon and avocado my burger had:
The burger come skewered with a knife because they are so big you need to cut them in half to eat them!
We took most of those fries home, but had to try the Superman shake. It was green in color (I guess to signify Kryptonite for Superman's weak's spot?) but the flavor was cherry chocolate with a mound of whipped cream and sprinkles on top.
In conclusion, the food was good and plentiful, I'll say it was one of the best burgers I've had in recent memory. And the garlic parmesan fries were a welcome change from normal fare. The only drawback was the price. The meal was almost $40 and that's more than I want to spend for burgers and fries, even with a shake added in.
