I got this advice from a professional foodie. I tried it a few years ago and had a lot of success, but a debilitating illness that caused me to mysteriously gain a lot of weight quickly, to the point of not being able to fit through the door, prevented from being able to stock up on the supplies I needed to keep the experiment going. The mystifying illness and weight gain vanished on its own. To this day it remains unexplainable.
I will be repeating the experiment to see if this actually does keep cakes fresh.
