Solution

Here is a breakthrough, showing step by step what you had to do in order to solve the crypto-puzzle:

The first thing that attracts attention is the cover image itself. On the upper left corner we see lots of 0 and 1. This is a binary code you had to translate into ACSII. If you did it right it says: encryption is the key

So far so good, let's head to the first given hint:

Some of you had the idea of check if this is simply another font. Correct! I used Wingdings to cover the word: Sourcecode
The second hint just says: encipher.it

Hive account@meesterboom came to the conclusion to check the source code of my post to find a hidden message. I used [](EnCt29df8762175243085b614862618fad29223e9fc649df8762175243085b61486267Nog2F3mqQLkKyOO+lfWl8W3NsbN4mpS1HBrj5nuEyeAl5rKzL3XVollP/N1ymh+D+sEpdpTCCZfQ+ArmBhWs+y8HopZLi6t7oZt3WfBlNLR+A==IwEmS) to hide the message in an empty space.

The next step was to insert the long weird code in encipher.it and there you go: password please!
Luckily we have the password from the cover: encryption is the key!
The deciphered messages contained two links. One to an image and the second one to a winrar file which is password protected.

In one of my articles about bacteria and viruses I talked about mitosis. You could get the information that the interphase is part of the mitosis there. So the password for the .rar file is mitosis.

Inside the .rar file was a .txt file with the following:
