"Puto" is actually a local favorite as a replacement for rice to pair with "dinuguan" or pork's blood stew(commonly but some uses beef blood too). It may sound gross for some but it's really delicious. This is what it looks like:

Throughout my life here in the Philippines, I have tasted different kinds of "puto" already. There are some which is really sticky, very loose texture, colored ones, with and without cheese on top and my favorite of all-the one that is made of a pancake batter-like mixture. There has been a latest innovation done with this local favorite aside from above mentioned, that is, a mixture of steamed rice cake and leche flan or popularly known as "puto flan" which looks like this:
