My lovely girlfriend booked us a room at the Drake Hotel in Downtown Toronto for my 25th birthday last weekend. The hotel is unlike any other in North America. It's a small boutique hotel with under 50 rooms, but what sets it apart is the concert venue in the basement called the Drake Underground, a nightclub on the main floor (of which I can't remember the name), and another bar/lounge called Skyloft on the second floor. The art instalments throughout the property made us feel like we were living in a contemporary art gallery.
The service was flawless and we were never left wanting. The room service meal we ordered, oysters and a cheese board, were also amazing. One really cool thing was the "pleasure menu", a list of sex toys available for purchase in the room service menu; something I believe is only offered @ the Drake. The hotel store, The Drake General Store, located across the street in Toronto's iconic Queen St West neighbourhood also offered a number of interesting items, some of which we purchased for Christmas gifts. Although the hotel is not the cheapest option in the downtown area, I'd highly recommend it as a weekend escape from the formalities of a busy city!
