Calgary is an urban city in Alberta, Canada. Its population is about 1 250 000 people. It is considered as the largest city in Alberta and fourth largest in Canada.
To be honest, I didn't expect this city to be so huge. For some reason I thought it would be a small city. Downtown looked not a lot smaller than Toronto (largest city in Canada), if not the same!
I don’t have a lot of really good pictures of downtown, so I have to show you one picture, which is not mine.
Pretty huge city!
So, here is my journey at Calgary..
We started our day at the MARKET Restaurant, where we tried Canadian dishes: pork belly and scallops, and duck confit with waffles with some great Canadian beer!
Later, we went to the heart of downtown, where we found out about hundred different restaurants and many shops and huge mall!
We probably spend most of our day there, but later we went to Central Memorial Park.
We found a lot of cool statues and a beautiful fountain there. I think it is a great place to relax and take some pictures!
Also, we found this thing in downtown area. I have no idea how this works, but this is pretty cool! It tells you how many cyclists were on the road. I assume they use some kind of application on the phone.
Here are some more photography of Calgary city..
Next day, we went to Lougheed House.
Lougheed House is a must see historic site in Calgary. The mansion was built in 1891 by Senator James Alexander Lougheed for family.
Lougheed House received important state visitors on many occasions. In 1912, the Duke and Duchess of Connaught and their daughter Princess Patricia stayed at the house. In 1919, the Lougheeds entertained the Prince of Wales at a garden party. Prince Edward visited again in 1923 and 1928. Other notable visitors included Governor General Lord and Lady Byng; Prince Erik of Denmark (1928); Lord and Lady Willingdon; and the Right Honourable Stanley Baldwin.

At the Lougheed House they serve regular brunch and tea time sweets with sandwiches. We decided to go with regular brunch, which was pretty good!
On our trip, we also went to Calgary's art museum and to a really fun heritage town, but this is something I will write about in my next posts because there is a lot to talk about! :) Stay Tuned.
